Why Are You Here?

Updated: Feb 10

One question that often piques my curiosity is, “Why are you here?” On the surface, it seems simple, but the answer can be deeply personal. We all have reasons for the things we do, even if we don’t always take the time to explore them.

Think about something as basic as pouring yourself a glass of water. You might say it’s because you’re thirsty, and that’s true. But if you go a bit deeper, it’s about more than just quenching thirst. Your body needs water to function, to stay healthy, to thrive. That straightforward need aligns with a deeper purpose—keeping you alive and well.

Now, let’s shift this to something like Yoga Therapy. Maybe you’re here because you want to get out of pain, move better, or find some relief from the stress of daily life. These are all valid and straightforward reasons. But what’s the deeper desire behind those reasons?

What would your life look like if you weren’t in pain?

How would it feel to move with ease, to wake up each day without that nagging discomfort?

This deeper motivation is what I call your “Compelling Reason.” It’s the emotional driver that aligns with your needs and fuels your desire to seek change. When you have a compelling reason, you’re more likely to stay committed, to push through the tough moments, and to keep your eyes on the outcome you want.

So, if you’re thinking about taking a Yoga Therapy class or booking a private session, I encourage you to take a moment and ask yourself—why? What is it that you truly desire? What’s the outcome that would bring you joy, ease, or fulfillment? Understanding your compelling reason can make all the difference, turning a simple choice into a powerful journey toward healing and well-being.
